‘Shri.Swami Vivekanand Shikshan Sanstha, Kolhapur’ is one of the few renowned and leading educational institutions in Maharashtra (India). Dr.Bapuji Salunkhe started toying with his dream-project of founding an educational institute which he did in 1954.Founder and Promoter of Shri.Swami Vivekanand Shikshan Sanstha Govind(alias Bapuji) Salunkhe, a child prodigy, was born on 9th June 1919 at Rampur(Patan), Dist. Satara(Maharashtra). This little angel and godchild of goddess Saraswati was born with purpose 1. Establishment of Institute was on 31st December 1954 , Registration No. KE95/Dated 31st December 1954 This educational institute, registered with charity Commissioner under public trust Act, has been making progress by leaps and bounds, qualitatively, under able guidance of Principal Abhaykumar Salunkhe, the Secretary. He has been striving ceaselessly to set an example of excellent governance, organization and management. This educational concern has attained the growth to the tune of 22 undergraduate colleges, 66 higher secondary schools, 170 secondary schools and 72 other educational units. The institution takes pride in sending over 1000 students of engineering and over 100 students to medical courses every year. The annual budget of this second largest education institute in Maharashtra is Rs.4, 00000000/-(rupees four hundred millions). The total number of students taking instructions at various levels in a variety of programs is estimated to be 200000(two hundred thousands) and about 7500 teachers have been discharging their pious duty to materialize the dream of late Dr.Bapuji Salunkhe .
